12-16: The apostles and other believers were totally committed to giving God glory. Their one-ness, patterned after God’s, was a sign of God’s presence and others were attracted as the Lord kept adding new persons to the movement.
So committed they were, that the apostles were fully instrumental as God’s agents. Small wonder the power of healing passed through them, even Peter’s shadow!
17-42: Gamaliel gave good advice, “..if this undertaking is of human origin, it will fail 39 but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them – in that case you may even be found fighting against God”.
BE A WINNER AND LET GOD FIGHT YOUR BATTLES, OF COURSE, IF THEY NEED TO BE FOUGHT AT ALL!
How often does it happen that we feel qualified to make judgements concerning things we are uninformed about, or understand too little. It’s OK to admit Ï don’t know” and avoid the senseless arguments.
At any rate, here is a rule for getting involved in senseless arguments. If you know the matter fully well, then there is no point arguing with the one who doesn’t want to know. You’re wasting time. And if you don’t know, then you’re not qualified to argue about the matter. Just leave it alone.
Prayer: Lord, let my desires align with yours. May I seek to do only your will, empowered by your Holy Spirit. Help me to spend the time, effort and other resources on preparing to carry out your mission that, backed by you, it will bear fruit and not fail.
Confound the plans of the enemy. Expose moves founded on terror and divisiveness. Deliver us from desires to seem popular and to show off our capacity. Let everything I do be guided by you, to show you off. Stop me in my tracks when I think it’s all about me. Amen.
