I’m sure this title startles many.
Why would anyone want to grow bad habits?

I hardly think than anyone would want to; but harmful habits, if unchecked, can creep up, then grow up in you until you are entangled in them and by them.
We make excuses for unsavoury thoughts we harbour and deeds we engage in. Maybe at first they might even irritate us, but then we insulate them in such a way that we no longer feel them.
I have photos that illustrate what I mean. See how the bark of these trees have grown around the thick electric cables (discarded after Hurricane Hugo) and nailed onto them to form a hold-on for hikers. These metal ropes proved to be good helps as I hiked the trail in sometimes slippery places.

Notwithstanding their value, I was thinking about bad habits as I noticed how the tree bark had simply grown around the ropes over time, accommodating them so that they were no longer outside their trunks, but with time had become embedded in the trees.
Watch out for bad habits. They can grow and get stuck in you! And getting them out can leave a dirty scar which you don’t need in the first place!
Grow good ones instead. They won’t be offensive to you or to any others who desire your welfare. And you won’t want to get rid of them as they’ll be your pretty spots, not ugly ones.
